Orca Wave is a privately held company formed in 2001 by John G. Rivenburgh and Jeri S. Wait. Together, the founders each have more than twenty years of experience bridging all aspects of the telecommunications industry, including leadership at the corporate level, acquisitions and development, and new technology deployment. In recent years they have devoted their efforts to the deployment of software to meet the needs of the competitive voice services marketplace.
Prabodh Joshi – Director of Software Architecture
Prabodh Joshi is the chief software architect, developer and visionary of Orca Wave’s back office systems. This includes our Intelligent LCR, Code Management, Automatic Supplier Cost / Code Entry, Billing, Portal Access and all other operational support systems. He has spent the past nine years designing software for global carriers and is recognized as an industry expert in the field.

- The Orca Wave Software Platform enhances the business plan of our customers by maintaining a strong balance between QoS, profitability and network utilization and support, on an integrated platform across all of the work groups associated with the Wholesale voice business.
The key modules of the Orca Wave BlueWater Software that balance QoS, Profitability and Network utilization are:
- Intelligent LCR: Supporting multiple partitions by balancing QoS and Least Cost, exception routing, default routing as well as settlement/volume relationships with alarms and routing utilization.
- Automatic Supplier cost / calling code entry: Quickly update your LCRs without manual errors, determine customer rate change requirements and analyze opportunities/problems with codes.
- Customer Rates and Notification: Develop customer rates based on margin, average cost or LCR as a group or individually customized to each of Orca Wave carrier customers. Rating can be done via a bulk update to all clients or individually customized to each of your customers. All rate sheets are automatically produced, stored and delivered to customers and contain the correct notice periods for increases/decreases.
- Supplier Validation and Disputes: Immediately produce the expected Supplier bill for comparison to actual bill and quickly identify areas of possible dispute.
- Code Management: Keep fully up to date on all of your supplier codes and determine and highlight opportunities/problems associated with code definitions on a supplier by supplier basis. Maintain different destination codes for customers, routing and suppliers.
- Real Time Reports: Easily gathers traffic, QoS, margin and other key reports by customer, by supplier by any route, and timeframe. Traffic is Alarmed so as to monitor changes in MOUs, ASR as well as deposit tracking.
- Carrier Billing: Should Orca Wave customers decide to sell to carrier customers, BlueWater provides a billing module that is timeframe and currency flexible and can accommodate net settlement and one way relationships. Bills are easy to produce, concise to the customer and can be fully delivered electronically. Billing durations by route are easy to input into the BlueWater system by customer and supplier.
- Domestic Routing: A popular feature for U.S. origination voice calls. Routing by origination number to support interstate and intrastate calling. Comprehensive OLAP management tool to be deployed for domestic routing in early 2007.
Orca Wave provides a fully data integrated software solution to each of the work groups of Orca Wave customers – NOC, buying/selling of wholesale minutes, finance (billing, payments to suppliers & deposit tracking), routing management, contract administration, and the executive team, that is easy to use and access for real time information. Orca Wave’s software immediately enhances the operations and capabilities of the Orca Wave customer’s wholesale business unit.
The underlying data base information – processed CDRs, customer rates and codes, supplier costs and codes, contract and contact information, QoS and alarmed information – is shared information throughout the application so that data is only input once into the system. The user, based on their access criteria, is then presented with the necessary screen via their secure internet browser to glean the information they need to carry out their work.
The Orca Wave Software Platform supports all existing and planned wholesale product plans – bi-lateral relationships, competitive transit/refile services, TDM and VoIP (traditional and ‘spot’ market traffic), as well as supporting the in-house retail traffic onto it’s own intelligent LCR partition.
The Orca Wave Software Platform supports the full extent – today and tomorrow – of a carrier’s product plan for the delivery of wholesale traffic including any new services that a carrier can imagine and implement. The only limitations are the switching platform and its capabilities to support differentiated destination codes. The Orca Wave Software Platform supports as many LCR partitions as is needed (and the switching platform will support) to support the business goals of Orca Wave customers. The Orca Wave Software Platform is Switching Platform independent. Thus, if Orca Wave customers start with their Nortel or NexTone switches and then decide to add additional or different softswitches and/or gatekeeper/VoIP platforms in various parts of the world to garner wholesale traffic, the Orca Wave Bluewater Platform will fully integrate the new switching platform(s) onto the same user interface with either integrated or separate reporting and tracking so that the business processes of routing, Intelligent LCR management, code updates, QoS, network utilization and the like will be presented on the same platform.
The Orca Wave Software Platform fully scales and grows with the demands of our Orca Wave customer’s business model.
Orca Wave provides both an ASP and a Turn Key solution for medium to large carriers. Orca’s Turnkey customers range in size from 2 million MOUs a day with about 40 customers / 20 suppliers to others that are at 30+ million MOUs a day, averaging 60,000 CDRs a minute with hourly updates or 86 million CDRs processed a day and managed with 1000+ carriers and over 60 suppliers with the Orca Wave Software platform.
Orca Wave - An Innovative Software Provider!
Monthly enhancements are designed and launched based upon customer feedback and requests. Our development roadmap includes a new four tier domestic product based upon the origination of U.S. and World Zone One calling. Reporting will be by the standard retrieval system plus a new OLAP process. This allows our clients to build and manage data based upon their needs. Other enhancements recently launched include a new Portal system that our customer’s clients can pull their individual reports and in 2007 post costs and retrieve rates.
